The Scottish Highlands & Islands Cheese Company produces a range of high quality cheddars with distinctive origins: Isle of Arran and Mull of Kintyre. Each has its own unique characteristics which helps to give our cheeses their individual flavour.
We believe that some things are worth preserving and this is why our award winning cheeses are still crafted to traditional recipes using milk from local island dairy herds that spend their days grazing on the lush coastal pastures surrounding our creameries.
Our cheese grader hand selects the cheese through a process that involves detailed ‘sensory assessment’, which identifies a cheese’s flavour, aroma, body, texture and colour and over the years our cheeses have won numerous prestigious awards for their excellence and taste.
The Scottish Highlands & Islands Cheese Company is part of First Milk, a British farmer owned business with creameries in Cumbria, Pembrokeshire, the Scottish Island of Arran and the remote Kintyre Peninsula off Scotland’s west coast.
